More Information
Sticks and Stones is an instrumental rock trio from SF, comprised of guitarists Gretchen Menn & Mickael Tremel, and drummer Sam Adato. While the band is, by nature, guitar-oriented and instrumental, they are primarily focused on writing strong, solid music that is both accessible as well as interesting. The trio is influenced by artists such as Deep Purple, Jeff Beck, Van Halen, The Mahavishnu Orchestra and Led Zeppelin, to name just a few.
***The East Bay Express has just voted Hot For Teacher the best cover act or tribute band in the San Francisco Bay Area!***
Here's what they have to say: "There are cover bands and then there are tribute bands. The East Bay's Hot for Teacher, formed in 1999 to pay homage to the classic David Lee Roth era of Van Halen, features not only old-school music but is fronted by an actual teacher, hence the name. The wildly entertaining singer Randy Monroe, a middle-school science teacher by day, pours much energy and enthusiasm into becoming Roth. Along with guitarist Jude Gold, bassist Jesse Scott, and drummer Eddie Studebaker, Monroe and co. take their act on the road quite often, due to demand. Hot for Teacher has played most of the Western US and has upcoming shows from San Francisco to Montana. The next time the urge strikes to hear "Somebody Get Me a Doctor" or "Runnin' With the Devil" live, and if you like VH but prefer to skip the Sammy Hagar years, a trip to see HFT is in order."
